Proms on the pier, guernsey

Appleby sponsors Proms on the Pier 2010 in Guernsey.

With its eclectic combination of local musical entertainment in the first half of the evening programme and live footage of the Last Night of the Proms, beamed from the Royal Albert Hall in London, for the second half of the evening, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display, Proms on the Pier has proved over the years to be one of the most popular outdoor events in the Guernsey calendar.

Proms on the Pier 2010 was a great success due to the commitment and financial support of five local businesses:  Appleby; Deutsche Bank; Long Port Group; Terra Firma and The Partnership Advertising & Marketing Agency. The combined overall objective of these principal sponsors was recognising the importance of outdoor events, the role they play within the Guernsey community, and creating enjoyable and memorable experiences that can be shared by all age groups island wide.

A new initiative of the principal sponsors was to invite and encourage elderly residents of nursing and residential homes island wide to join all the spectators on Albert Pier for Proms on the Pier and to participate in the singing and musical entertainment.  Complimentary reserved seating was provided for up to 360 residents of nursing and residential homes along with transport to and from Albert Pier.
